No. 2 Bears To Compete at Minnesota Invite

The Bears return to the pool this week at the prestigious Minnesota Invite in Minneapolis.

BERKELEY – The No. 2 California men's swimming & diving team returns to the pool this week when the Bears travel to the Jean K. Freeman Aquatics Center for the annual Minnesota Invite, hosted by the University of Minnesota Recreation and Wellness, Nov. 30-Dec. 3.

Traditionally one of the top events in the season, the Bears will face stiff competition. Also competing are No. 1 Texas, No. 21 Wisconsin,  No. 24 Minnesota, No. 25 Arizona. Rounding out the competition is Harvard, receiving votes in the latest CSCAA poll, Pitt, and UNLV.

The Bears last competed at the beginning of the month when Cal had a terrific showing at the annual Triple Distance Meet against rival Stanford. Cal is 2-0 with impressive wins over Utah and Pacific at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

LAST TIME IN THE POOL
The Bears took on rival Stanford at the Triple Distance Meet on Nov. 4. Cal took three of the six events and the two relays. Highlighting the day were sweeps by Destin Lasco and Gabriel Jett winning the IM and back events respectively.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
In the latest CSCAA poll, the Golden Bears rank No. 2 with 440 points, one point shy of top-ranked Texas. Cal opened the year as the nation's top team in the preseason poll, followed closely by the Long Horns. The top-five is currently: Texas, Cal, No. 3 NC State (406 points), No. 4 Georgia (380 points), and No. 5 Arizona State (375 points).
