Nov 30, 2022

SEATTLE – Washington women's basketball (6-1) defeated crosstown rival Seattle U 60-49 (0-6) on Wednesday night in Alaska Airlines Arena.

This was the thirteenth consecutive meeting that the Huskies have come out on top. The win also solidified an undefeated at home record in the month of November for Washington to start the season.

Freshman Hannah Stines got her first start of the season, and started the scoring for the night with a three. She ended the night with seven points and a career high six rebounds.

Rebounding was a highlight for Washington, as the team out-rebounded Seattle 60-30. Haley Van Dyke had a season-high eight rebounds to go with her nine points, and freshman Teagan Brown recorded a career high eight rebounds.

In the first half, TT Watkins was solid, scoring a season high eight points. The Huskies were down by just one going into the half, and then lit up in the third.

"I'm just proud of the way we came back in the second half and really committed to the defensive end of the floor," head coach Tina Langley said.

Dalayah Daniels scored 11 points in the third quarter, finishing the night with her sixth career double-double, and second as a Husky. She scored 17 points, and recorded career highs in both rebounds (15) and blocks (five).

Washington never looked back, finishing strong offensively while also defensively holding Seattle U to under their season scoring average.

"I was proud of the effort this team put out with people in different positions tonight and the way they played together," Langley said.

Next Up: Washington hosts Queens University on Sunday at 3 p.m. PT at Alaska Airlines Arena.
