Beavers Conclude Competition at Cliff Keen

Dec 3, 2022

LAS VEGAS – In one of the country's toughest competitions, the Oregon State wrestling team finished eighth in the Cliff Keen Invitational, a two-day tournament which wrapped up on Saturday afternoon. Four individuals placed in the top-four of their weight classes.

The eighth-place finish marks the second consecutive top-10 finish for the Beavers at the competition following an identical eighth place finish.
Tanner Harvey was the Beavers' highest-finishing individual, taking second place in the 197-lb. division.

Brandon Kaylor (125) and Jason Shaner (133) wrapped up their weekends with identical fourth-place finishes. Matthew Olguin (165) finished third, Aaron Olmos (174) took seventh and Trey Munoz (184) finished in eighth.

On his way to the runner-up finish, Harvey took down a pair of seeded opponents – including No. 17 Kordell Norfleet of Arizona State and Andy Smith of Virginia Tech. In a hard fought final, Harvey dropped a 6-4 decision to ninth-ranked Isaac Trumble of NC State.

Oregon State will take the mats against top-ranked Penn State next Sunday for the final dual of the calendar year. Action from Pennsylvania is set for 11 a.m. PT and can be seen nationally on ESPNU.
