What they’re saying about Colorado hiring Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders as head coach
Colorado football entered a new era on Sunday, and it's Prime Time. The Buffaloes officially introduced Deion Sanders, a Hall of Fame defensive back and two-time Super Bowl Champion, as their next head football coach.
Sanders arrives from Jackson State University, where in three seasons the Tigers compiled a 27-5 record and won back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference championships competing on the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level. That mark includes a 12-0 record this season.
Twitter certainly was excited to see Coach Prime head to Boulder.

The Pac 12 had a great year finishing with 6 teams in the Top 25…. And now they add @DeionSanders to the mix. This conference just got a lot more interesting. 🍿

I absolutely love the flex of putting @DeionSanders presser in the middle of the Broncos game tomorrow!!
Colorado football is the new #1 in this state. @RickGeorgeCU & @buffs4life2 are bosses for getting this done.

Colorado should feel like they won the damn lotto. At Jackson State, Deion Sanders went 23-2 last two years and got FBS-level recruits (and attention!) to an HBCU. I see no reason why it shouldn’t translate and I’m confused why bigger programs seemed to ignore him

The hire has also made an emphasis on hiring black head coaches in football.
Deion Sanders is the first HBCU head coach to get a Power 5 job.
Only the 2nd Black HBCU coach to get an FBS job.
Willie Jeffries, hired at Wichita State in 1979, was the first Black coach of an FBS PWI. Jay Hopson, who is white, also went from Alcorn State to Southern Miss.

Colorado is the only PWI school to hire 4 Black coaches. John Embree, Mel Tucker, Karl Dorrell, Deion Sanders, including 3 straight, replacing a fired Black coach with another Black coach. Deion is the first Black HBCU coach to hired by a PWI. Won't be the last. History @CUBuffs pic.twitter.com/nSccrcPm8u
