Feb 25, 2023

SAN FRANCISCO - The bracket is set for the 2023 Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament, presented by New York Life, as the 22nd annual event is slated to tip off this Wednesday, March 1 at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.

Both 15-3, Stanford and Utah shared the league's regular-season title, the Cardinal's third consecutive and 26th overall and the first for the Utes. The two split their regular-season meetings and Stanford secured the No. 1 seed by virtue of its 2-0 record against No. 3 seed Colorado. Utah was 1-1 against the Buffs.

Fifteen-time Pac-12 Tournament champions, the Cardinal is the event's top seed for the 16th time. Utah earned a program-best No. 2 seed and its first, first-round bye. The Utes' previous top seed was No. 6, achieved three times, including last season when it became the lowest-seeded team to advance to the tournament final.

The Cardinal and Utes were both No. 1 seeds when the NCAA women's basketball committee released its second and final early top-16 reveal on Thursday. The Pac-12 was the only league with multiple teams on the top line.

Colorado (13-5) nabbed the second bye in program history (2013) by locking down the No. 3 seed, the best for the Buffs since joining the Pac-12, with a 95-69 victory over California on Saturday. This season, CU will be making back-to-back NCAA Tournament trips for the first time since it earned four consecutive berths from 2001-04.

Arizona, UCLA and USC all tied for fourth with 11-7 league marks. The Wildcats earned the No. 4 seed and their fourth-straight, first-round bye, the league's second-longest active streak (Stanford), because of their 2-0 record against the group (UCLA - 2-1; USC - 0-3). After removing Arizona and moving to a two-team tiebreaker between UCLA and USC, the Bruins grabbed the No. 5 seed because of their two regular-season victories over the Trojans.

The Wildcats have won at least 10 Pac-12 contests in four consecutive seasons for the first time since 2002-05. USC's No. 6 seed is its best since the Trojans won it all as a No. 5 seed in 2014, also the year of their last NCAA Tournament appearance. USC has won double-digit Pac-12 games for the first time since going 11-7 in 2013-14.

Washington State (9-9) is the No. 7 seed and, with a NET of 38, is in strong position to make its third consecutive NCAA Tournament.

Washington and Oregon both finished 7-11 and in a tie for eighth, with the Huskies holding the tiebreaker and No. 8 seed. The two split their regular-season contests, but the Huskies went 1-2 against the two squads tied atop the league standings, while the Ducks were 0-2. UW has more than tripled its Conference win total from a season ago (2) and has its best seed since it was No. 3 in 2017.

California and Oregon State tied for 10th with 4-14 Conference records, the Golden Bears earning the No. 10 seed because of their head-to-head win against the Beavers on Jan. 29. Arizona State (1-17) is the No. 12 seed.

All 11 contests will be nationally televised, with the first three rounds of action from March 1-3 set to air on Pac-12 Networks and the championship game on Sunday, March 5 broadcast on ESPN2.
