7 Pac-12 Men's Tennis teams head to 2023 NCAA Championship

SAN FRANCISCO – The NCAA named seven Pac-12 Men’s Tennis teams to the 64-team field for the 2023 NCAA Championship, with both ARIZONA (21-6) and USC (19-7) picking up hosting duties alongside the bids.

The 2023 Pac-12 Champions, the Trojans, were chosen to host the early rounds of the tournament, welcoming San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and Idaho with No. 10-seeded USC taking on the Vols in the first round of competition. 

Florida, Oklahoma State and Boise State will join the Wildcats at the Lanelle Robson Tennis Center with No. 14 seed Arizona facing Boise State in its 12th Championship appearance. 

After finishing second in the Pac-12 Tournament, the UTAH Utes (23-5) will make their 16th NCAA appearance, traveling to No. 16 North Carolina to take on Old Dominion in the first round of competition. 

Tied for most tournament appearances is UCLA (12-10) who will head to Lexington for its 45th Championship. In a pod hosted by No. 4 Kentucky, the Bruins will go head-to-head with Northwestern in the opening round. STANFORD (14-10) men’s tennis will take their own cross country trip to No. 13 Columbia for a pod starting off with a dual against St. John’s in their first round.

The final two bids saw ARIZONA STATE (13-11) and CALIFORNIA (12-10) earn spots in the postseason. The Golden Bears, for the first time since 2019, will be taking on a pod hosted by No. 7 Michigan, with a first-round matchup against LSU. ASU will enter its 18th tournament in a pod hosted by Harvard. The Sun Devils will face Illinois in the first round. 

The first and second rounds of competition will take place on May 6-7, featuring four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to super regional competition May 13 or 14. Each super regional site will feature two teams playing a single-elimination format. The super regional winners advance to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. where the final eight teams will compete for the NCAA National Championship May 18-20.
