Utah, UCLA women's basketball with teams at 2023 USA Basketball 3X Nationals

May 5, 2023

SAN FRANCISCO - Utah and UCLA women's basketball have teams entered in this weekend's 2023 USA Basketball 3X Nationals at Reid Arena on the campus of Colorado College in Colorado Springs. The 16-team women’s field will feature pool-play action tomorrow, May 6, with the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship to follow on Sunday, May 7.

The defending Pac-12 regular-season co-champions, Utah's roster is made up of Pac-12 Player of the Year Alissa Pili, Jenna Johnson, Dasia Young and Maty Wilke. The Utes are in Pool C with Gonzaga, Creighton and Tennessee and start against the Zags at 7:20 a.m. PT on Saturday, May 6.

Freshmen Christeen Iwuala, Gabriela Jaquez, Londynn Jones and Kiki Rice make up UCLA's roster in Colorado. The Bruins are in Pool B with Maryland, Ole Miss and St. John's and start with the Terrapins at 6:40 a.m. PT on May 6.

The top two teams from each of the four pools will advance to bracket play and Sunday's quarterfinals, which begin at 6 a.m. PT on May 7, with the championship concluding the weekend later that morning at 10:20 a.m. PT.

Played on a half court with a 10-minute clock and a 12-second shot clock, the first team to 21 points, or the team in the lead at the end of regulation, is the winner. Participating teams earned their spots in the 2023 USA Basketball 3X Nationals either through USA Basketball 3X regional qualifying tournaments last fall or via an at-large invitation from USA Basketball.

3X Nationals serves as an evaluation for selection to various 2023 USA Basketball 3x3 men's and women's national teams, including the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, set for May 30-June 4 in Vienna, Austria, and roster spots for USA Basketball World Tour, Women's Series and U21 and U23 Nations League teams.

Games will be streamed live on USA Basketball's YouTube page and fans can follow on Twitter @usab3x3.
