In a format change from last year's inaugural tournament, the 2023 edition expands the field from eight teams to nine teams and switches to pool play. Pool play will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with three games per day followed by the semifinals on Friday, May 26 and the Championship game on Saturday, May 27. Pool A will include seeds #1, #6 and #9 with Pool B made up of seeds #2, #5, and #8. Seeds #3, #4 and #7 will compete in Pool C.

The in-state rivals will kick off the 2023 tournament at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The two squads met last year in Scottsdale with the Wildcats ending the Sun Devils' tournament run. Oregon State and Arizona will square off on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the final game of Pool B between the Sun Devils and Beavers set for Thursday at 10 a.m.

Despite the series loss to Cal, Washington will be the No. 3 seed after its highest regular-season finish since taking third in 2018, the year UW reached the Men's College World Series. The Huskies enter the tournament having won 12 of their last 15 and will be the top seed in Pool C, taking on No. 7 seed UCLA on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. PT and No. 4 seed USC on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

As part of back-to-back rivalry matchups to start the 2023 tournament, UCLA and USC will battle in the second game of the day Tuesday after the Arizona and Arizona State showdown. UCLA and Arizona both captured spots on the final weekend with the Bruins needing just one win against the Sun Devils and Arizona winning the series against USC to secure its berth. The Wildcats and Bears finished in a tie for eighth with Arizona earning the No. 8 seed via the head-to-head tiebreaker over California.

At the conclusion of pool play on Thursday night, the three pool winners will advance to the Friday single-elimination semifinals along with one Wild Card team. The Wild Card will be determined by the best record of the non-advancing teams with any tiebreaker awarded to the highest seeded team.

The semifinal matchups will pit the highest-seeded team against the lowest-seeded team on one side with the second-highest seed and second-lowest seed on the other. Teams from the same pool however will not play each other in the semifinals.
