USC Rowing Advances All Boats to C Final of 2023 NCAA Championships

Pennsauken, N.J. – USC women's rowing finished day two of the 2023 NCAA Championship at the Camden County Boathouse on Saturday, May 27. After one second place finish in the Varsity Four and two third place finishes in the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight, all boats advance to the C final tomorrow, Sunday (May 28).

TROJAN BOATS

  • Sr. Eden Cooper-Squires coxed for the Trojan's Varsity Eight. Zoe McCutcheon sat the stroke seat for the Trojans. Succeeding the stroke seat was Celia Marino, Grete Alttoa, Claudia Cabula, Caroline Munch, Annabel Aron, Jenna Van de Grift, and Ingrid Brast.
  • Sr. Lillian Lau coxed for the Second Varsity Eight. In the stroke seat was Grace Eamer. Following Eamer was Raquel Rodriguez, Clare Widzgowski, Jemima Morgan, Chiara Meakin, Isabella Lysaker, Anastasiia Slivina, and in the bow was Zuzanka Pazourkova.  
  • Fr. Dana Shearer sat in the coxswain seat for the Varsity Four. The Trojans stroke seat was occupied by Sara Clarin. Then was Alex DeLisle, Anna Molnar and in the bow was Rhese Abrams.   

WHAT HAPPENED

  • The Varsity Eight kicked off the semi-final round for the Trojans. Coxswain Eden Cooper-Squires guided the Trojans to a third-place finish with a time of 06:36.495. The women of troy were five seconds behind second place Indiana, with the Hoosier's time of 06:31.771.
  • The Second Varsity Eight was next on the water for the Trojans. Coxswain Lillian Lau led the women of troy to a third place with a time of 06:42.683. The Trojan boat was three seconds behind Syracuse's boat with their second-place time being 06:39.435.
  • The Varsity Four was the last race of the semi-final day for the Trojans. Coxswain Dana Shearer guided the Trojans to a second-place finish with a time of 07:28.770. The women of troy were seven seconds behind first place Rutgers, with the Scarlet Knight's time 07:21.796.

UP NEXT

  • The women of troy are back on the water tomorrow for the final races. The Varsity Four kicks off racing in lane 5 at 8:24 am EST in the Division I: Four Final 3. The Trojans take on Gonzaga, Pennsylvania, Rutgers, and Indiana.
  • The Second Varsity Eight will hit the water tomorrow racing in lane 1 at 8:48 am EST in the Division I: II Eight Final 3. USC lines up against Indiana, Rutgers, Duke, and Syracuse, and George Washington.
  • The Varsity Eight will be the last race of the NCAA Championship weekend for the Trojans. USC's Varsity Eight will race in lane 6 at 9:12 am EST in the Division I: Varsity Eight Final 3.
