Madison Huskey Earns Program’s First Gold Glove

May 31, 2023

SEATTLE – Washington right fielder Madison Huskey has earned a Gold Glove Award for her outstanding defensive play, Rawlings Sporting Goods and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced today.

Huskey is the first UW player to earn a Gold Glove, as the awards were presented for college softball for the first time in 2022. Rawlings created the Gold Glove Award for Major League Baseball Players in 1957.

Honored primarily for her defensive skills in this case, Huskey is also one of UW's top offensive threats. A starter in all 56 games, she enters play at the Women's College World Series with a .327 batting average and is second on the team in both home runs (11) and runs batted in (43).

She handled 60 chances, including three outfield assists, in 2023 without an error.

A second-team NFCA All-Pacific Region and second-team All-Pac-12 honoree in 2023, Huskey helped lead a Husky team that currently ranks No. 4 in the nation in fielding percentage, with a .982 mark.

The Huskies take on Utah Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in their first game at the Women's College World Series. The game will air live on ESPN.
