Maguire Returns to Colorado Roots

Jun 1, 2023

BOULDER—Head coach Danny Sanchez added a late signee to his 2023 roster with the transfer of Greer Maguire on Thursday.

Maguire, another Colorado native, returns to her home state after spending her first two collegiate seasons playing at Arkansas. The Arapahoe High School graduate played in 10 matches last season for the Razorbacks.

Maguire joins the list of Colorado natives that have transferred back to their home state to don the Black & Gold. Danica Evans, Morgan Stanton, Megan Massey, Tatum Barton, Sofia Weiner, Gabbi Chapa, Hailey Stodden, Dani Hansen, Civana Kuhlmann and most recently Jordan Nytes have all taken the scenic route to call Prentup Field home.

The 5-8 defender recorded 251 minutes for Arkansas in 2022. She played a season-high 67 minutes against Arkansas State with two shots. Maguire, a two-time SEC Honor Roll honoree, redshirted during her freshman season in 2021.

Maguire played eight years with Real Colorado and was a four-year captain of the club's U19 squad. She made 67 starts and totaled five goals with Real. Maguire was also a part of Top Draw Soccer's 2003-04 YNT Regional ID roster and an ODP Region IV team member.

Her grandfather, Butch Allison, played football collegiately at Missouri and professionally with the Baltimore Colts and the New Orleans Saints.

Colorado will have 11 newcomers to start the 2023 season. Maguire will be the team's fourth transfer joining Nytes (Oklahoma State), Isabelle Eskay (George Washington) and Ally Clark (Columbia).
