Avrit Named PING All-American

Jun 6, 2023

NORMAN, Okla. – Senior Owen Avrit capped a stellar 2022-23 season by being named to the PING All-America third team the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday.

This is the first career All-America award for Avrit, who previously confirmed that he will return to Oregon for a fifth year in 2023-24.

The Arroyo Grande, Calif., native becomes the 28th All-American in program history and the eighth under coach Casey Martin. He is the first Duck to be honored by the GCAA since Norman Xiong in 2018.

"Owen was just amazing this year," said Martin. "He was just a rock for us. I am excited he is coming back next year and excited to see what he can accomplish."

For the second year in a row, Avrit helped Oregon advance to the NCAA Championships, where the Ducks finished 27th.

Avrit led the Ducks with a 70.28 stroke average, which was the fifth-best single-season average in program history. He won the Cal Poly Invitational and the Bandon Dunes Championship to become the eighth Duck to win twice in the same season.

Avrit had seven top-eight finishes in 12 tournaments. Ranked No. 44 nationally, the Ducks counted all 36 of Avrit's rounds this season. Nearly half of his rounds, 17, were below par.

Avrit carded both a career-low round (63) and tournament (199) at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. The round of 63 was one shot off the school record (62), while the 199 was the fifth-lowest three-round total in program history.
