Five Bruins Advance from First Day of 2023 NCAA Outdoor National Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – UCLA men's track & field advances five student-athletes in two events at the 2023 NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships after the first day of men's competition.
 
Peter Herold clinched his spot in Friday's final after running an 8:38.63 in the 3000m steeplechase, placing fourth in his heat. The senior paced himself well and stuck near the top of the pack, securing the first finals qualification for the Bruins Herold earned an automatic qualification to the championship event by finishing in the top five runners in his section.
 
The men's 4x400m relay team of Myles Misener-Daley, Willington Wright, Antonie Nortje and Cameron Reynolds combined for a time of 2:59.51 in an incredibly fast field of competition. Five teams broke the three-minute mark including the Bruins, and UCLA moves onto the finals with the result.
 
The first day of the women's track & field outdoor championships begins Thursday, June 8, at 3:30 p.m. CT. The Bruins will compete in the first two field events, the hammer throw and the javelin, before running events begin later in the evening.
 
The second day of the national championship meet will be broadcast on the ESPN2 starting at 7:30 p.m. Central Time. Live results can be found here.
