All-America honors roll in for Pac-12 baseball

SAN FRANCISCO - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game all announced their 2023 All-America Teams this week and 13 from Pac-12 baseball were honored across the three organization's postseason awards.

After the 2023 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Region Teams were released Tuesday, the Pac-12's 11 first team selections were considered for All-America honors, which were announced Friday prior to the start of the 2023 Men's College World Series in Omaha. Stanford accounted for four of six the selections with the Pac-12 Player and Pitcher of the Year, Alberto Rios and Quinn Mathews, selected to the first team and Cardinal third baseman Tommy Troy and outfielder/pitcher Braden Montgomery earning second team status. Joining Troy and Montgomery on second team were Arizona standouts Chase Davis and Kiko Romero, both of which were All-Pac-12 performers in 2023. The teams are voted on by members of the and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. 1 All-America committee.

Rios and Mathews also earned NCBWA All-America First Team nods, while Arizona's Davis was a NCBWA Second Team selection. Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana and UCLA starting pitcher Kelly Austin were awarded third team honors. Additionally, Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Malcolm Moore was named to the NCBWA Freshman All-America Second Team on Monday.

Perfect Game's All-America honors included Stanford's Troy and Mathews as PG First Team selections with Rios and Arizona's Davis picking up second team nods and Arizona State's Luke Keaschall collecting a third team honor.

Perfect Game also released its Freshman All-America Teams and four from the Pac-12 were honored. Stanford's Moore earned a first team selection, while USC's Austin Overn and Oregon State's Gavin Turley garnered second team honors and Stanford's Matt Scott rounded it out with a third team selection.
