Washington Drops Pac-12 Tournament Opener To Cal

May 21, 2024

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Washington fell to Cal in Tuesday's Pac-12 Tournament opener, falling in seven innings via the run rule, 12-0, at Scottsdale Stadium.

Calvin Kirchoff received the loss, allowing six runs over four innings.

A leadoff home run in the third gave Cal a lead it would never relent before the Golden Bears tacked on two more with a two-out rally.

After a scoreless fourth, Cal strung together five hits to tack on four more runs in the fifth. The Bears used another two out rally in the sixth to plate five, bringing the run rule into play.

Washington loaded the bases in the seventh but couldn't bring any runs in to keep the game alive.

Washington will play its final game of the season on Wednesday, taking on Arizona at 7 p.m. PT at Scottsdale Stadium. The game will air on the complete Pac-12 family of networks.

DAWG BITES
• Washington's losing streak runs to seven games, the last four of which have come to Cal
• True freshmen Carson Ohland and Blake Wilson were the lone Huskies to post a hit on Tuesday
