2013 Preview: Oregon State volleyball

Schedule // Roster // 2012 Statistics

Oregon State excelled in tournament play, only seeing two losses in their preseason slate. The Beavers struggled in conference play, garnering only four wins through the season to finish in tenth place. With head coach Taras Liskevych entering his ninth season in Corvallis, Oregon State looks to improve behind a well balanced roster consisting of both experienced players and eager newcomers.

» OH/MB Arica Nassar returns for her junior year to spearhead OSU's offensive efforts after the graduation of scoring leader and All-Pac-12 honorable mention Camille Saxton. Nassar was one of two players on last year's roster to play in 117 sets, registering 364.0 points (3.11 pps). The junior also led the team's defensive efforts, tallying 140 total blocks, the only player with more than 100 stops at the net.

» SR libero Becky Defoe (pictured) also returns for the Beavers for her final season in orange and black. Defoe recorded 591 digs which broke the previous single-season record that she set in her sophomore year, and she enters her senior season only 104 digs away from becoming the all-time career leader.

» A bevy of sophomores look to build upon their freshman-year experience, including returning starter SO MB Haley Clarke. Clarke made 90 blocks, the second most on the squad. All of the returnees saw playing time in at least 60 sets last season, so all but the freshmen will have had previous time on the court.

» With only three returning starters and none of them being setters, Oregon State has a lot of spots to fill on their starting roster. JR S Tayla Woods saw the most action behind primary setter Megan McBride last season and is primed to direct the floor.

» Oregon State will have on one senior on the roster this year. The beef of the roster consists of juniors, three of whom are redshirts, so Coach Liskevych will have to prime the juniors to take on early leadership roles.
