LOS ANGELES – Fans will have a chance to get their first look at the USC baseball team in action this weekend, as the Trojans host their first fall game on Saturday at 12 p.m. against UC Riverside. The Trojans then head to UC Irvine on the following Saturday (Nov. 16) for a 12 p.m. game against the Anteaters.
LOS ANGELES--Ron Fairly, the home run and RBI leader on USC's 1958 national championship baseball team who then had a 21-year major league career that included stops with the Dodgers and Angels before becoming a long-time baseball broadcaster, died today (Wednesday, Oct. 30) in Indian Wells, Calif., of cancer. He was 81.
LOS ANGELES--Walt Peterson, an All-American pitcher at USC who pitched a 9-strikeout complete game to lead the Trojans to a 5-2 victory over Arizona in the championship contest of the 1963 College World Series, died after a battle with lung cancer on Oct. 1 in Newport Beach, Calif. He was 76.
The 2019 MLB season saw the 114th USC alum (Garrett Stubbs) make it to the big leagues, the most of any collegiate program in the country, and saw another (Ian Kennedy) accomplish a feat only three others in the history of Major League Baseball have been able to do.
LOS ANGELES – USC baseball graduate transfer Ben Wanger helped Israel become the first team to qualify for the 2020 Olympics this past weekend when they won the Europe/Africa qualifying tournament in Italy.
