Three wins, seven podium finishes, and two top-five team finishes for the Huskies last week in Tucson.
Husky track and field will be sending its largest group ever to the NCAA West Preliminary Championships, as a total of 41 Huskies will compete from May 23-25 in Sacramento, Calif. for spots at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.
Redshirt freshman Elijah Mason became the first Husky to win the Pac-12 men's discus crown in over four decades, and both Husky squads finished in the top-five for only the third time in history as the Pac-12 Championships wrapped up today at the University of Arizona.
In a 25-lap race that began after midnight, Husky senior Izzi Batt-Doyle put the rest of the field to bed with a late push to claim the Pac-12 title at 10,000-meters and cap off a very long but very strong day for Washington at the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships.
It's open season for championships, as the Husky track and field squad takes its top Dawgs to Tucson for the Pac-12 Championships this Saturday and Sunday, May 11-12.
Washington sophomore Hannah Rusnak can lay claim to being the Pac-12's top all-around athlete, as she rolled to the victory today in the heptathlon at the Pac-12 Multi-Event Championships hosted by the University of Arizona.
