In our latest Off the Course series, we get to know Sports Dietitian Meredith Price a little better. Price has been with Washington since 2016 and works with both men's and women's golf along with men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's rowing, track and field, tennis and with the athletic department as a whole.
Senior Alice Duan joined the UW program prior to the 2018-19 season as a transfer from Cal State Northridge. She competed in 12 events during her first year in purple and gold averaging a 75.08 score. She posted two top 10 efforts and seven rounds under par. As a senior, Duan continued her stellar play seeing action in seven events and earning a tie for ninth at the Molly Collegiate Invitational. She also finished in the top 30 in five of her seven events.
Junior Wenyan Ma has been with the University of Washington women's golf program for three seasons coming all the way from Guangdong, China. She's consistently been on the UW Dean's List and has a 3.8 GPA as a Food, Nutrition and Health major. MaoMao is what she's known as by her teammates and has competed in seven events for the Dawgs.
A pillar in the world of golf and the first woman to run the University of Washington golf program, Edean Ihlanfeldt passed away this week at the age of 90 with her family by her side.
Sophomore Martha Lewis saw a big improvement between her freshman and sophomore seasonos as she finished tied for third on the team in scoring average after competing in seven events on the year. She recorded her best showing as a Husky when she tied for 12th at the Cardinal Cup and turned in three rounds under par and one sub-70. Lewis was the team's top finisher in two of the seven events she played in. Here's a little Q&A to get know more about Lewis off the course:
FAIRFAX, Calif. – Washington ended the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Invitational in third place with a team score of 17-over 881 (290-299-292). Rino Sasaki was the top finisher for the Huskies, ending her round at 1-over 73 and in a tie for 13th place.
