USC's Angie Annelus, Allyson Felix, Rai Benjamin, Cameron Samuel Advance To U.S. Olympic Trials Semis

Angie Annelus and Allyson Felix in the women's 200m and Cameron Samuel and Rai Benjamin in the men's 400m hurdles advanced to semifinals at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials being held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. today (June 24). 

  • Annelus and Felix advanced to the women's 200m semifinals tomorrow on time, as the top two in each heat, plus the next six fastest runners would advance.  Annelus placed fourth in the third qualifying heat with a time of 22.76 (+1.9) and had to await the results of the final two heats.  Allyson Felix was third in the final heat with a time of 22.56 (+1.0).  Felix advanced 10th and Annelus 15th on time.
  • Samuel and Benjamin both took care of business today by winning their heats in the men's 400m hurdles to automatically advance to the semifinals tomorrow.  Samuel won his heat with a time of 49.89 to qualify eighth and Benjamin won his heat with a time of 49.12 to qualify third overall.
  • Madisen Richards (USC 2018) finished 15th in the women's long jump with a best jump of 20-1.50/6.13m (+1.1).

Trojans competing tomorrow at the U.S. Trials: Brendan Ames (110m H-1st round), Angie Annelus (200m-semis), Rai Benjamin (400m H-semis), Anna Cockrell (400m H-1st round), Allyson Felix (200m-semis), Dalilah Muhammad (400m H-1st round), Cameron Samuel (400m H-semis), Earnest Sears III (HJ-1st round).

At the Jamaica National Championship Meet Today

  • Davonte Burnett won his 100m dash prelims heat with a time of 10.05 (+1.0) to automatically advance to the semifinal tomorrow.  His time was second overall among the advancing runners.
