No. 3 Stanford women's volleyball will advance to the elite eight of the NCAA championship, after defeating Utah in a 3-2 thriller on Friday night in Stanford. Utah took the first set 25-22, opening up the chance for an upset bid. The Cardinal won the next two sets with ease, 25-14 and 25-10. But Utah fought back and took the fourth set 25-12, setting up the pivotal final set. The Utes stuck with the Cardinal, keeping the fifth set close at 12-11. But Stanford went on a late 3-0 run to close out the set 15-11 and clinch the match. With the win, the Cardinal advances to the regional final on Saturday where it will face off against No. 11 Penn State. Utah will have to settle with knowing that it gave the third-ranked team in the country all that it could handle.
