PALO ALTO, Calif. — The University of Colorado men's golf team finished 14th here Saturday in the 50th edition of Stanford's "The Goodwin," but in the end, it was the proverbial, "what a difference a stroke or two meant."
Host and No. 31 Stanford wound up pulling away from the field, finishing as the only team under par with an 8-under score of 832. The Cardinal entered the final round with a seven-shot lead and would win by 18, as No. 6 Southern California finished a distant second with a 10-over total of 850. No. 4 Oklahoma (854), No. 11 Cal (855) and first round leader, No. 80 Washington (857) rounded out the top five.
