PULLMAN, Wash. – Reese Tappan and Nadia Cooper, recent senior standouts from the Washington State soccer team, have both signed contracts to play professional soccer with United Soccer League (USL) clubs.
Tappan, a four-year starter and senior captain at WSU, signed with Spokane Zephyr FC, the women's USL Super League club competing in the top flight of professional soccer. The Zephyr are in the second half of their inaugural season with Tappan making her professional debut in a 3-2 stoppage time win at ONE Spokane Stadium, Saturday, March 15.
Cooper, the Cougs' starting goalkeeper for the last four seasons, signed with Minnesota Aurora FC, a women's USL W League club out of Eagan, Minnesota. Cooper joins Aurora FC in their third season, competing in the Heartland Division of the Central Conference in the 93-team league.
Tappan and Cooper join Morgan Weaver as Cougar standouts now playing professional soccer domestically. Weaver began her sixth season with Portland Thorns FC last weekend.
