The Pac-12 Conference and APM Music announced a new conference-wide music partnership that provides all Pac-12 member institutions and the league office with streamlined access to APM’s music catalog.

The agreement marks the first conference-wide music deal brokered by APM in college athletics. APM has existing league-wide partnerships with Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, the National Women’s Soccer League, and League One Volleyball.

“Across our hundreds of live event broadcasts, all centralized through our Pac-12 Enterprises technology and broadcast solutions facility, music is a key element for the entertainment value we provide to our fans and viewers,” said Pac-12 Vice President and Coordinating Producer Bob Schmelzle. “APM Music has been a foundation for our entertainment workflows and will continue to be as we build our next chapter of the Pac-12 and Pac-12 broadcasts.”

Through the partnership, the Pac-12 Conference office and its member institutions will have access to safe-to-use music options for fast-moving workflows. The agreement is designed to help creative teams bring their stories to life while utilizing one of the deepest professional music sources in the business. APM's catalog provides access to music that encapsulates the energy, identity, stakes, and fan emotions of the Pac-12 and its member communities, along with the licensing support and rights confidence necessary in today's ever-changing media landscape.

“Music can be overwhelming when it comes to producing content across a variety of platforms, but music rights don’t have to be,” says Matthew Gutknecht, APM’s VP of Sports Entertainment. “APM has provided a stable foundation for the Pac-12 Conference since the launch of Pac-12 Networks in 2012 and now continuing with Pac-12 Enterprises and Bob Schmelzle (Vice President, Coordinating Producer) and throughout the rapidly changing environment of college athletics. Music rights can open tremendous liability for our partners, but our expertise ensures nothing slips through the cracks.”

As fan engagement continues to evolve across live events, social media, streaming, and broadcast channels, music has become an essential part of how teams and conferences connect with their audiences. The Pac-12 and APM Music partnership provides schools with a centralized resource to help meet that demand without creating clearance anxiety while increasing the flow of content between distribution partners.

The agreement reflects APM Music’s continued growth across the sports industry, where the company serves as a trusted music partner for leagues, teams, athletic departments, broadcasters, production companies and content creators.
