Nov 19, 2014

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State baseball head coach Pat Casey announced Wednesday that 12 student-athletes will join the program starting in 2016.

Five of the 12 have pitcher as part of their position, who include right-hander Bryce Fehmel (Agoura Hills, Calif.) and left-handers David Brosius (McMinnville, Ore.), Chris Loeb (Rocklin, Calif.), Ian Oxnevad (Shoreline, Wash.) and Eric Parnow (Petaluma, Calif.). Both Fehmel and Loeb have additional positions listed, with Fehmel as an infielder and Loeb as a utility player.

The seven position players include infielders Andy Atwood (Everett, Wash.), Cadyn Grenier (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Nick Madrigal (Elk Grove, Calif.), outfielder Steven Kwan (Fremont, Calif.), outfielder/infielder Trevor Larnach (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), outfielder/catcher Alex O’Rourke (Pendleton, Ore.) and utility player Zak Taylor (Sherwood, Ore.).

“This is a really good class,” Casey said. “I think we have some very special guys in this group. We always look for guys who fit in with what we’re trying to do. The young men who are coming in with this class are no exception.

“We look for athleticism and character, and obviously we are looking for the best baseball players we can find. I really like the versatility of this class.”

Six of the 12 to join the Beavers played at the prestigious Area Code Games this past summer. They include Grenier (Reds), Larnach (Athletics), Madrigal (Athletics), Oxnevad (Royals), Parnow (Athletics) and Taylor (Royals).
