Memorable Moments: Steve Alford

UCLA head coach Steve Alford looks back at the Bruins’ exciting run through the 2014 Pac-12 Tournament, defeating Arizona in the title game, and advancing to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.

During his first season as the Bruins’ head coach, Alford directed UCLA to a 28-9 overall record. The Bruins defeated Stanford, Oregon and Arizona on consecutive days in the Pac-12 Tournament, securing their first conference tournament title since 2008.

One week later, UCLA earned victories over Tulsa and Stephen F. Austin in the second and third rounds of the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.

Now in his second season as the program’s head coach, Alford and the Bruins will tip off their 2014-15 season on Friday evening in Pauley Pavilion versus Montana State. Game time is 9 p.m. UCLA’s season opener will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
