SAMMAMISH, Wash. -- Washington women's golf begins its fall season on Tuesday, Oct. 7 when it hosts the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at Sahalee Country Club.

The tournament includes 36 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 7, followed by and 18-hole final round on Wednesday, Oct. 8. The teams will play the par-72 course at Sahalee, site of an annual 1998 PGA Championship.

The Dawgs will host another great field, icluding 2013 Edean Ihlanfeldt champion Stanford. Also competing are Colorado, Colorado State, Columbia, Gonzaga, Hawai'i, Oregon State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Seattle U., Stanford and UC Davis.

The Huskies will have all seven players on the course this week. Their starting lineup will be Eimi Koga, Charlotte Thomas, Cyd Okino, SooBin Kim and Jing Yan. Jennifer Yang and Ying Luo will also compete as individuals.

The competition for the Dawgs lineup will be fierce all season with seven capable players. Koga won the qualifying leading up to the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational to take the top spot in the lineup this week.

  • Head coach Mary Lou Mulflur is in her 32nd season as the head coach of Washington. She led the Dawgs back to the NCAA Championships last year for the 10th time.
  • Senior SooBin Kim led the Huskies last year in scoring average at 72.00 and was the top finisher at the NCAA Championships where she tied for 16th.
  • Washington was ranked No. 5 preseason by GolfWeek, but since they have yet to play this season are not currently in the rankings.
  • Washington returns four players that competed at the 2014 NCAA Championships, Kim, Charlotte Thomas, Jennifer Yang and Ying Luo.
  • The Dawgs have two players who advanced to Stage III of LPGA qualifying, Kim and Jing Yan.
  • The Huskies finished second at the 2014 NCAA West Regional, falling by just one stroke. At the NCAA Championships, Washington finished 17th.

The Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational is named for Washington's legendary coach that started the program. Mulflur played for Ihlanfeldt who will be in attendance again this year for the tournament. Last year, Stanford took the team title, while Mariah Stackhouse of Stanford took the individual title. SooBin Kim was the Dawgs top player, finishing fourth at the Edean last year. Kim also won the 2012 version of the tournament.
