SAN FRANCISCO -- Husky striker Darwin Jones has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday. The senior scored three goals over the weekend as the Huskies defeated No. 13 California and No. 18 Stanford.

Thursday, Jones scored twice in Washington's 3-2 win over Cal. He started off the scoring for the Huskies, tying the score at 1-1 with a cracker of a free kick. Jones bent a low drive around the wall just inside the near post for a goal from 28 yards. Later, Jones gave the Huskies the lead when he finished a nice through ball from Ian Lange.

Sunday, Jones put away Washington's 3-1 win over Stanford with the game's final goal. Jones took a loose ball at the top of the box and dipped a high shot over the Cardinal goalkeeper.

Jones now has eight goals on the season, already surpassing his total from last season. He has also added four assists and now ranks third in the Pac-12 in points and second in goals.

Jones has led the Husky offense that now ranks fourth in the country with 2.60 goals per game. The Dawgs have won seven in a row and at 9-1-0 were ranked as the No. 1 team in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

Jones becomes the second Husky to win Pac-12 Player of the Week, joining Josh Heard last week.

This week, Washington travels to Oregon State for a Sunday game at 3 p.m. The Beavers will be a tough challenge as they come in at No. 19 in the same TopDrawerSoccer.com rankings.
