Kufeld Named Pac-12 Goalkeeper Of The Week

Oct 27, 2014

SEATTLE - Megan Kufeld has been named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the conference this afternoon.

Kufeld recorded three shutouts and led Washington to a 2-0-1 record on the week, including wins over Oregon State and Utah, and a scoreless draw at Colorado. The junior goalkeeper had at least four saves in each game, making 15 total stops in the three contests. Kufeld, who has played every minute for UW in the net this season, now has 65 saves on the season, a total that is fifth best in the Pac-12. She has posted four-straight shutouts and has seven blank sheets on the season.

Sam Mewis of UCLA won the Offensive Player of the Week award and USC's Whitney Pitalo won Defensive Player of the Week honors.

UW is now ranked No. 13 in the latest RPI standings. The Huskies sit at No. 22 in Top Drawer Soccer's weekly rankings and No. 20 in the Bennett Rankings, two popular soccer websites, and are currently ranked No. 18 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll as of Oct. 21.

The Huskies will conclude their regular season home schedule this weekend with matches against USC on Friday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. PT and against No. 1 UCLA on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. PT. Both games will be televised live by the Pac-12 Network.
