Head coach Tony Amato and his two assistant coaches Paul Nagy and Kylie Louw have guided the women's soccer team into the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history in just their second year here at Arizona.
Q: How excited are you about getting into the tournament with this team?
A: We’re fired up. You know, it’s a situation where we were achieving to win every game and as a result of doing that, we’re in the NCAA tournament. We feel like it’s a huge step for the program, and we’re ready to get there and play the game.
Q: Going up against Oklahoma State again, are you going to do anything different this time?
A: I think both teams have evolved since earlier in the season. It was early on that we played them and it was a funny game, you know we scored three goals in a six minute spell at the end of the game. So we expect it to be a tight game, both teams are going to battle and compete and we’re excited to get it going.
Q: You've talked about how you don’t really set goals for the team, but to kind of reach this one for only the third time in school history, what does that mean to you so early in your campaign here at Arizona?
A: We don’t set goals because we want to focus on the process, but getting to the tournament, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel like a massive achievement. So it feels great, we’re in the show so to speak, and we want to get after it and try to advance now. We’re going to be ready to go.
