TUCSON – Former Arizona swimmer Zachary Hojnacki has earned the Erasmus Circle Scholarship from the College of Education, the highest honor given by the college. Hojnacki is receiving the scholarship as a doctoral student in educational psychology.
Erasmus Circle Scholars, many of whom have made contributions to their communities, the College of Education, and the University of Arizona, are outstanding students who show promise in their areas of study and research.
“I would like to thank Dr. Good and Dr. McCaslin for nominating me for the award, as well as Dean Marx and Dr. Good for allowing me to be a part of the program,” said Hojnacki. “The entire faculty have supported my goals as a coach and enabled me to tailor the program to fit my individual needs, and for that I am incredibly thankful.”
The Chandler, Ariz. native is one of 13 graduate students who have been selected as the 204 Erasmus Circle Scholars. They will be honored at a special reception at the home of Dean Ronald W. Marx and Anne Marx in early November.
Hojnacki, who is currently coaching for the Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics club, received his bachelor of science in psychology in the winter of 2012 and is on schedule to receive his doctorate in educational psychology. Hojnacki hopes to become a Division I head swimming coach.
A swimmer at Arizona from 2009 to 2012, Hojnacki competed in the 2011 Summer Nationals, 2012 Olympic Trials and 2013 World Championship Trials, as well as three Pac-12 Championships.
