Cal Meets Fans at Open Practice and Tip-Off Event

Oct 16, 2014

BERKELEY - The 2014-15 women's basketball season begins in exactly one month, and the Bears opened the doors of Haas Pavilion for an open practice and Tip-Off Event for fans to get an inside look into the team.

The Bears practiced for 90 minutes at Haas Pavilion in front of over 150 fans on a Sunday afternoon with Head Coach Lindsay Gottlieb mic'd up to provide insight into how her coaching staff runs a practice and prepares her team for competition.

Afterwards, the entire crowd moved to the Alumni House to participate in the annual Tip-Off Event where the team and coaching staff met and mingled with fans of the program. Many fans used the opportunity to get to know Cal's freshman class, to join the Triple Threat Club and also to pick up free tickets to Cal's home opener against Nevada on Nov. 18.

"It was great to have an open practice and to have the community come and see what we do on an everyday basis," senior Reshanda Gray said.

Freshman KC Waters added, "My favorite part is seeing everybody come in at the start of practice. To see their support and how excited they are to wtach us play (makes us) just as excited as they are."
