California Jumps To Eighth To Conclude Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. – Hannah Suh and Alice Jeong both shot under-par rounds Sunday as California concludes play in eighth place at the Stanford Intercollegiate held at the par-71 Stanford Golf Course.

The Bears moved up one spot on the final day after scoring an even 284 as a team in Sunday’s round. California finished the 54-hole tournament with a 290-290-284=864 (+12). Stanford and USC tied for the team titles with 15-under 837’s. Fellow Pac-12 rival UCLA finished one stroke behind the leaders for third overall with an 838 (-14).

Suh and Jeong both shot 1-under 70’s Sunday to pace the Bears into their best round of the tournament. Suh finished tied for 24th overall with a 72-72-70=214 (+1) after hitting three birdies Sunday. Jeong placed 31st on a very strong day that saw her card four birdies overall.

Lucia Gutierrez placed 43rd in her first tournament of the season with a 72-74-72=218 (+5). Freshman Marthe Wold finished 55th with a 74-70-79=223 (+10) after the final three holes caused her problems Sunday to jump from 3-over to 8-over on the day.

Carly Childs, who improved with every round this weekend, shot a 1-over 72 Sunday to finish 61st with a 78-75-72=225 (+12). Childs hit four birdies Sunday, including two on the back nine where she was 1-under.

Competing as an individual was Jo Ee Kok, and the senior finished 47th overall with a 72-71-76=219 (+6).

The Bears conclude the fall season at the Pac-12 Preview in Kona, Hawaii on November 3-4.

COURSE: Stanford Golf Course (par-71; 6,130 yards) – Stanford, Calif.

FORMAT: Three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes each day. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.
