WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – The Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships commenced this afternoon with No. 5-seeded WASHINGTON, No. 6 ARIZONA STATE, No. 7 STANFORD, and No. 8 ARIZONA competing in the first session at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah. Arizona State topped Session 1 with a team score of 196.400. Arizona State’s Cairo Leonard-Baker and Stanford’s Kyla Bryant both hold the top score in the all-around heading into Session 2 with an overall 39.525. Leonard-Baker holds the best score on bars with a 9.950 and earned the second-best score on beam (9.850) just behind Byrant’s 9.875. Bryant also notched the third-best score of Session 1 on floor scoring a 9.90.
Session 1 Team Leaders
ARIZONA STATE – 196.400
- Behind Leonard-Baker’s 9.925 on floor was senior Corinne Belkoff who tied her career-high of 9.900.
- Morgan Hart shined in her only event of the meet, posting a career-high 9.900 on uneven bars to help the Sun Devils tie their career-best 49.250 in the event.
- Senior Justine Callis made an impressive performance tying her season-best on beam (9.825) and scoring a 9.825 on bars and floor.
WASHINGTON – 196.175
- Leading Session 1 on floor, Maya Washington recorded a season- and career-best 9.950 to lead the GymDawgs.
- Madison Copiak led the GymDawgs on bars with her fourth 9.9+ score of the season, posting a 9.90.
STANFORD – 195.925
- The Cardinal currently holds the best two scores on vault with Rachael Flam leading with a 9.900 followed by Bryant posting a 9.875.
- Taryn Fitzgerald tied her career-best score of 9.850 on the balance beam putting her in a tie for second in the event.
ARIZONA – 193.900
- Courtney Cowles and Maddi Leydin led Arizona to its best meet event total of 49.125 on floor by posting a pair of 9.850s, marking a season and career-best for Cowles.
- Heather Swanson beat her season-best on vault with a 9.850. The junior also scored a 9.800 on bars and a 9.825 on floor.
Session 2, featuring No. 1-seeded UCLA, No 2. UTAH, No. 3 OREGON STATE, and No. 4 CALIFORNIA, begins at 6 p.m. MT.
