Arizona State's Cydney Sanders has been named Pac-12 Softball Freshman of the Week for May 16. Sanders hit .364 (4-for-11) to help clinch the series against then-No. 10 Washington. Sanders' big bat helped propel the Sun Devils to the outright Conference title for the first time since 2011 after a tight race with UCLA. In game 3 of the series, she came up clutch after knocking out two home runs to give Arizona State the permanent lead to finish off Washington. Sanders tied the the Sun Devils' program record with the most home runs in a single-season (20). Prior to the final regular season series, Sanders was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and was selected to the First Team All-Pac-12 Conference Team.
