California's Grant Newell was named Pac-12 Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week, presented by Nextiva, for December 26, 2022. Newell helped lead the Golden Bears to their first victory of the season with nine points, three assists and two rebounds in 73-51 victory over UT-Arlington.
