Cal football defeated Illinois in the 2019 Redbox Bowl 35-20 Monday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. Quarterback Chase Garbers threw for 272 yards and had five total touchdowns in the effort, while running back Christopher Brown Jr. had 20 carries for 120 yards and added a receiving touchdown. The game marked Cal's 12th bowl win in school history – the first of the Justin Wilcox era – and was the Bears' first bowl win since the 2015 Armed Forces Bowl.
