USC men's basketball held on to defeat its crosstown rival UCLA 74-63 on Saturday in Los Angeles. The Bruins competed with the Trojans for the whole game, at one point using 13-5 run late in the second half to pull within six points. But senior Nick Rakocevic's fifth double-double (17 points, 14 rebounds), and contributions from Jonah Mathews (16 points) and Ethan Anderson (14 points) allowed USC to hold off UCLA and improve to 13-3. Chris Smith notched his own double-double for the Bruins (16 points, 10 rebounds) but it was not enough to prevent UCLA from taking the loss and falling to 8-8 on the season.
