Stanford women's soccer defeated UNC on penalty kicks to take home the 2019 NCAA title on Saturday night in San Jose. After phenomenal defensive performances by both the Cardinal and the Tar Heels kept the game scoreless after double overtime, the match - and the NCAA title - was sent to penalty kicks. Each team scored four penalties in the initial five kicks, but Stanford won the championship when goalkeeper Katie Meyer saved her second penalty kick and Kiki Pickett put her shot through, igniting a dog pile of joy in the middle of the pitch.
