New UCLA head men's basketball coach Mick Cronin spoke with the media Wednesday after being named the 14th coach in program history, saying "I want my players and my fanbase to buy into winning". Cronin, who has accumulated a 365-171 record in 16 seasons as a head coach, expanded on his philosophy, saying that "competing is the key [...] we've got to compete at all levels". The new Bruins HC most recently served as head coach at his alma mater, the University of Cincinnati from 2006-19. He helped guide the Bearcats to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last nine seasons.
