Utah football has earned a No. 8 ranking in the first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings for 2019. It is the highest College Football Playoff ranking the Utes have earned in school history after being ranked as high as No. 10 in 2015. The ranking marks the fifth time the Utes have been named in the year's first version of the CFP poll, having only missed out in 2017. Utah remains in the lead in the Pac-12 South race, having only lost one conference game, and potentially setting up a massive game against Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
