Seumalo, Stanton and Christian Lead Academic Team

The Oregon State football trio of Isaac Seumalo, Dustin Stanton and Steven Christian lead a nine-player Beaver contingent on this year’s Pac-12 Conference Academic Team.

Seumalo, Christian and Stanton all earned First Team honors, tied for the second most in the league behind Stanford. Seumalo is majoring in business, Stanton is undeclared and Christian is pursuing a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies.

Connor Hamlett, majoring in business management, earned Second Team.  Obum Gwacham (business), Keith Kostol (electrical & computer engineering), Sean Mannion (liberal studies), Ricky Ortiz (agricultural sciences) and Joel Skotte (animal sciences) were selected to the Honorable Mention team.

Hamlett has been honored for academic achievement by the Pac-12 three times, while Mannion and Gwacham are two-time members.

To be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic team the individual must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA, be in his second year at the institution and a significant contributor.

Oregon State wraps up the 2013 season Friday at Oregon in the annual Civil War at 4 p.m. in a game being televised live by Fox Sports 1. Deposits are being accepted for 2014 season tickets for home games that include Portland State, San Diego State, Washington State, Arizona State, Utah and Oregon.
