Video: Mike Montgomery calls Cal, Stanford 'grapefruit and avocados'

Mar 31, 2014

Cal basketball coach Mike Montgomery announced his retirement at a press conference Monday, capping 32 years as a collegiate head coach. Those 32 seasons included two stints in the Pac-12: 18 years with Stanford (1987-2004), where he was a four-time Pac-10 Coach of the Year; and rival Cal, where in six seasons his Golden Bears never finished outside the top four of the Pac-12 standings in Berkeley.

During the press conference a reporter asked what Montgomery enjoyed most about his time at Cal compared to his time Stanford. His reaction? Consider it friendly fuel for the rivalry fire.
