Apr 17, 2014

TUCSON, Ariz. – Brooke Dougherty, a 5-8 defensive specialist from Mission Viejo, Calif., has signed to play volleyball for the University of Arizona, head coach Dave Rubio announced on Thursday.

“We are extremely excited to have Brooke join our team,” Rubio said. “She will have a bright future in the Arizona program and we are looking forward to having her on campus.”

A Capistrano Valley High School product, Dougherty finished her high school career averaging 2.4 kills per set and 2.6 digs per set.

Following her senior season, she was named Second-Team All-Sea View League. Dougherty plays with the Saddleback Valley Volleyball Club under club director Ki Yi and head coach Kelli Mulvany. Several other members of her Saddleback team have signed with Division I programs.

Dougherty joins Jade Turner, a 6-4 middle blocker from Bakersfield, Calif., to the incoming class as she signed with the program back in November.
