Pac-12 track and field athletes of the week announced

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the the week of April 14-20:

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: ALEEC HARRIS, USC (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.). Senior Aleec Harris won the 110-meter hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays Invitational elite race on April 19, clocking a school-record and world-leading time of 13.32. His time moved him from ninth to first on USC’s all-time list and to second all-time on the Pac-12 list. Harris was first of 15, also defeating 2013 USA Track & Field Championships 110-meter hurdles winner Ryan Wilson.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: JENNA PRANDINI, OREGON (R-So., Clovis, Calif.). Redshirt-sophomore Jenna Prandini ran an 11.11 in the 100 meter to win the event and post the second-fastest time in the world this year, and the fastest wind-legal time in the NCAA. In addition to the accomplishments on the global and national scale, she also moved up to second in the Oregon record book and seventh all-time in Pac-12 history. Prandini was also part of the 4x100 team which tied a world-leading time, winning in 43.31, also the fourth-best time in Pac-12 history. It is the second time this season Prandini has been named the Pac-12 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: JULIAN WRUCK, UCLA (RS-Sr., Brisbane Queensland, Australia). NCAA and Pac-12 defending champion, and collegiate record holder Julian Wruck continues to have a stranglehold on the discus event. This past weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays, Wruck launched a mark of 211-7/64.49m to outdistance a talented field of 41 competitors. Wruck holds the top marks in the country this season and has not lost a collegiate event since 2012.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: ALEXIS WALKER, UCLA (Sr., Pasadena, Calif.). In her first-ever heptathlon, senior Alexis Walker jumped into the UCLA record books by scoring 5,409 points at the Mt. SAC Relays. Walker finished second overall in a field that boasted over 50 competitors. Her total of 5,409 points is 10th best at UCLA all-time and is tops in the Pac-12 this season. Walker is the second Bruin to earn the weekly women’s field honor after teammate Kylie Price claimed the honor on April 8.
