Barnett Is Pac-12 Women’s Field Athlete of Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Washington State senior Mary Barnett was named the Pac-12 Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 28-May 3, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Barnett, from Hermiston, Ore., was a double-winner May 3, providing 10 points in the Cougars’ 82 - 81 dual win over No. 21 Washington. Barnett won the shot put with a season-best throw of 45-feet 7 inches (13.89m), won the discus with a lifetime-best distance of 139-11 (42.66m), and threw the hammer a PR distance of 142-11 (43.57m) for fourth place.
Barnett is the second Cougar honored during the 2014 outdoor season with a conference Athlete of the Week nod. Sprinter André McBride won the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for April 7-13.
