WALNUT CREEK, Calif. —  OREGON STATE outfielder Jeff Hendrix has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week and ARIZONA STATE right-handed pitcher Darin Gillies has been tabbed Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for May 5-11, the Conference office announced Monday.

Hendrix was stellar in the Beavers’ 4-0 week, going 8-for-18 (.444) with a .667 on-base percentage and a .636 slugging percentage as OSU extended its’ winning streak to 11 games with a non-conference win over Oregon and a series sweep of league-foe UCLA. The sophomore recorded five RBI, six runs scored, two doubles, a home run, two stolen bases and one walk. In the Beaver’s 4-3 win at 10th-ranked Oregon on May 6, he had two hits and a game-winning sacrifice fly in the 12th to defeat the Ducks. The Corvallis, Ore. native recorded multiple hits in three of four games, including back-to-back 3-for-5 games against UCLA on Saturday and Sunday. Four of his five RBI on the week came with two outs while he reached base on 5-of-8 attempts when leading off an inning.

This is Hendrix’s first-career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and Oregon State’s 64th all-time selection. He is the second position player for the Beaver to earn the honors as teammate Michael Conforto was named the first Player of the Week of the 2014 season.

Gillies, a junior from Hollister, Calif., propelled Arizona State to a series-clinching 8-6 win over No. 9 Oregon on Sunday. The right-hander did not allow an earned run and gave up just two hits through six innings of work en route to his sixth quality start of the season. In earning his first win since Feb. 27, he struck out three without allowing an extra-base hit.

Gillies picks up his first-ever Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week nod and the 64th overall for the Sun Devils. He is second ASU pitcher to earn the weekly award in 2014 as Ryan Kellogg earned the honor on April 28.

The Beavers will play a non-league contest at Portland on Tuesday before returning home for their biggest series of the season as they host second-place Washington with a chance to clinch the Conference title with a sweep of the Huskies. The series kicks off on Friday at 4 p.m. PT with all three games over the weekend being broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks. The Sun Devils, now in a tie with Oregon for third-place in the standings, will play a Tuesday non-conference game at UNLV before hosting Utah for a three-game tilt over the weekend. First pitch is Friday at 6:30 p.m. PT.
