Former UCLA guard Russell Westbrook erupted for 40 points and 10 assists in leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 105-92 win over the San Antonio Spurs to even the Western Conference Finals at 2-2. And since we’re here, check out this amusing minute-long video on Russell Westbrook as Point Godzilla (came out a couple of weeks ago, but it still rings true).

Oregon

No. 1 Oregon softball’s WCWS challenge is to beat the nation’s best player. The Ducks open up WCWS play Thursday at 11:30 a.m. PT against Florida State and right-handed pitcher Lacey Waldrop, who was named the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Stanford

Stanford men’s golf bowed out of the final “fore” Tuesday, falling in the NCAA semifinals to Oklahoma State after beating Illinois 3-2 in the quarterfinals of match play earlier in the day.

Oregon State

As Oregon State baseball gets ready for regional play, Kavin Keyes is trying to find his rhythm at the plate after returning from a thumb injury. Keyes has gone 1-for-12 in his return thus far.

Colorado

Tom Kensler of the Denver Post reports that two former Colorado football players have transferred to Nicholls State. Wide receiver Keenan Canty and linebacker Lowell Williams will take their talents to Thibodaux, La.

USC

Scott Wolf informs us that former USC tennis great Steve Johnson won a thrilling match at the French Open, beating Laurent Lokoli in five sets. Johnson won back-to-back NCAA singles titles in 2011 and 2012 and won 72 consecutive matches to close out his collegiate career.

Utah

It sounds like quarterback and Utes alum Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs are “far apart” on contract extension talks. However, coach Andy Reid remains optimistic that something can be worked out.

Arizona State

Pitcher Ryan Kellogg repeated as Arizona State baseball’s MVP and heads into the postseason at 8-3 with a 3.84 ERA. The last Sun Devil to repeat as team MVP? Dustin Pedroia, so that’s pretty good company to keep.

Arizona

Arizona men’s basketball is looking to take that next step and reach the Final Four, and Sean Miller is hoping the Wildcats are developing “toughness” from the Elite Eight losses they suffered in 2011 and 2014. The Arizona head honcho appeared on Jim Rome’s radio show Tuesday, which is where he made these comments.

Washington

Matt Brown of Sports on Earth lists Washington football as a team in position to take the next step and leave a serious footprint on the college football landscape (Arizona also makes the list).
