NCAA baseball regionals: Three Pac-12 teams remain in championship hunt

Stanford

Stanford Sweeps Doubleheader
Remarkably, the Cardinal lives another day. Stanford didn't have any trouble in its first elimination game of the day, dispatching of Youngstown State 12-4. The electricity kicked in during the nightcap of the doubleheader. Host Indiana entered that game 39-0 when leading after seven innings, and it held a 6-4 advantage over the Cardinal in the eighth. But Mark Marquess' squad put a blemish on the Hoosier bullpen's streak. Wayne Taylor's three-run pinch-hit home run gave the Cardinal the lead it would not relinquish. Final score: Stanford 10, Indiana 7. Rematch for the regional title starts Monday at 2:30 PT.

Oregon State

Oregon State Sweeps Doubleheader
UC Irvine gave top-ranked Oregon State a 14-2 gut punch on Saturday night, but the Beavers have risen through the losers' bracket. They eliminated UNLV 6-1 to open Sunday's doubleheader before exacting 4-0 revenge on the Anteaters in the nightcap. Scott Schultz delivered a two-hit, complete game shutout for Pat Casey's squad, which must repeat its success against UC Irvine in Monday's decisive game 7. First pitch is set for 8 p.m. PT.

Oregon

Oregon Splits Doubleheader, Eliminated
The Ducks came into Sunday having to sweep a doubleheader to survive, and they nearly did just that. In the end, though, host Vanderbilt overcame a 2-1 eighth-inning deficit to walk off with a 3-2 win against Oregon. It was a heartbreaking finish for the Quack Attack, particularly after a valiant fight in game one. The Ducks were teetering on the edge of elimination against Xavier before scoring five runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to tie that game. They plated three in the 10th to beat the Musketeers in dramatic fashion, only to later blow a late lead against the Commodores.

Washington

Washington Wins One, Loses One
Because of a previous rain delay, the Huskies' Oxford regional is slightly behind the other regionals around the country. Washington lost 2-1 to host Ole Miss Sunday before rebounding to beat Georgia Tech 4-2. That means the Dawgs must beat host Ole Miss twice in a row Monday to advance to the super regional round. Washington is back at it Monday starting at noon PT. If UW wins, decisive game 7 against the Rebels is slated to start at 5 p.m. PT.
