Seven Huskies Selected In Day 3 Of MLB Draft

SEATTLE -- The Huskies saw a team record eight players selected in the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft when seven more were selected in the final day Saturday.

Junior outfielder Robert Pehl got things going when he was selected in the 11th round of by Kansas City with the 333rd overall pick.

Right-handed pitcher Jared Fisher was the next Husky to come off the board, being selected in the 15th round by the Philadelphia Philles. The Newport High School graduate was taken 442nd overall.

Senior outfielder Brian Wolfe was the final Husky to be picked in the top-20 of the draft. He will join Jeff Brigham -- who went in the fourth round yesterday -- with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Wolfe was selected 609th overall in the 20th round.

Junior shortstop Erik Forgione (25th, Pittsburgh Pirates) was taken 761st overall, followed by Trevor Mitsui (30th, Arizona Diamondbacks) and Trevor Dunlap (30th, Tampa Bay Devil Rays) in the top 30 rounds.

Andrew Ely (32nd, Chicago Cubs) was the final Husky selected in the draft.

Players have until July 18 to sign with the clubs that selected them in the first-year draft.
